In preparation of Soft Shop II in New York, we are in full-on construction mode. I am in making the soft pebbles for the floor while Kayce is building the cave walls. All of which are made from repurposed fabrics. We hope to create an exciting, sexy, and maximalist environment in which the viewers can savor their idleness.

CAVES
This is what happens when I don’t get any shifts at work for a week. Worked on this new piece based on some drawings of stalactites, or wedding cakes, or both. I wanted to create a piece that would ultimately be a completely futile effort, both in its reference to the actual subject and the labor it takes to build it. I try to maintain the sense of chance by using whatever color of cardboard I have on hand, use it until it is finished, and move on to the next.
